Archie Comics’ 1997 cartoon predicting online classes is blowing minds

In 17 March 2021, social media posts by Archie Comics appeared to capture the imagination of the public during the era of COVID-19 lockdowns, video-conferencing, and home-schooling.
Since Last year educational institutes across the world made the switch from traditional classrooms to online learning as the pandemic necessitated social distancing. As a result, for almost a year now we have been attending almost everything virtually.
Almost a quarter-century ago, a Betty story showed “High School 2021 A.D.” Well, its a future with kids in class at home just like the present times.
Archie Comics shared the image of its 1997 issue, and netizens are stunned!

This comic strip has exploded online, racking up more than 27,000 ‘likes’ and hundreds of stunned comments.
Written by George Gladir, with art by Stan Goldberg, Mike Esposito, Bill Yoshida, and Barry Grossman — this comic was about Betty and her friends in Riverdale dealing with the struggles of virtual home schooling!
It features a set-up of remote learning, predicting that in 2021 AD, children will have a proper school experience within the comforts of their homes. In the comic strip, Betty Coopers is seen telling her mother that she has “all of thirty seconds” before school starts, something that hit home for many in recent times, logging in just seconds before classes go live.

Apart from the CRP monitor fitted with a video camera used for attending classes at home and her parents’ futuristic attires — the comic got it pretty much bang on.

As Betty sets up in front of her computer, her dad says, "Kids today are so lucky! They’re able to go to school in their own home! … They never have to carry books to school … and they never have to worry about the weather!"

The second segment shows Betty asking her parents to be quiet, reminding them, “video monitor must remain uncovered at all times”.
In the rest of the adventure, Betty calls Veronica on her videophone and then visits her. Veronica also uses a lookalike dummy to sit before her monitor when she doesn’t want to be in class.

With the amount of predictions made in past, some are destined to come true, some are bound to be proven false. Like Back to the Future, was plain wrong about flying cars and hoverboards in 2015 :joy:

That’s baffling!
