The world’s only man-made, heart-shaped lake — LOVE LAKE — in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become a popular tourist spot for lovebirds to relax away from the city’s hubbub.
Dubai’s Love Lake is a truly unique and eye-catching tourist location for couples and families alike. Located in the middle of the desert near Al Qadra in Dubai, this manmade lake is designed in the shape of two intersecting hearts. The lake acts as a perfect escape from the buzzing city life of Dubai for both local city-dwellers and travelers to the United Arab Emirates.
The lake is surrounded by 16,000 trees ,and hundreds of thousands of colorful flowers, with those on one side of the lake spelling out the word LOVE.Its entrance is also shaped like a heart, with heart-shaped gate, trees, and fountains. The lake also boasts a fenced area called "Hadirah" for picnics and barbecue with friends and family, as well as a glow-in-the-dark running track.
The man-made lake was built in 2018 and was given a huge publicity boost when the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, posted an aerial Instagram picture of it with the message ’To all of you’.
This unique love lake has proved to be an admired and approved tourist attraction at ground level, with visitors lapping up the heart-shaped theme, which is present on scales big and small.
It remains open 24 hours, is free of cost, and has basic facilities such as clean water and washrooms. To add to its allure, there’s a selfie wall for tourists, with space for two people to pose, a plus symbol in the middle, and a heart symbol at the end.
