ICC T20 Rankings: Babar Azam regains No.1 spot in T20Is, Muhammad Rizwan climbs to No.3

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, has ascended to the top of the ICC rankings for batsmen in Tests and Twenty20 Internationals.

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, recaptured the top spot in the batters’ list in the current Player Rankings for T20Is after only one week after losing it.

Babar slipped two spots to No. 3 in last week’s rankings update after scoring 0 and 7 in the first two T20Is against the West Indies. After a stunning 79 in the fourth T20I, which helped Pakistan clinch a clean sweep of West Indies, he came roaring back and is now equal for first place with England’s Dawid Malan.

Mohammad Rizwan, his other opener, closed up a fantastic 2021 by reaching No. 3 in the T20I batters’ rankings with career-best ratings of 798. With a 45-ball 87, Rizwan was named ‘Player of the Match’ in the final T20I versus West Indies, helping his side chase 208 in under 19 overs.
