Pakistan will host the 2025 Champions Trophy as announced by the ICC

No one can forget the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final which was played between the arch-rivals Pakistan and India. Pakistan team by its outstanding performance beat India by 158 runs and held the title. Now the time has come again.

On Tuesday, the international cricket council (ICC) announced that Pakistan will host the 2025 champions trophy. After hearing this news, Pakistanis are now over the moon. The ICC confirmed the 14 host countries of 8 upcoming ICC men’s white-ball events from 2024-2031.

On top of that, the last major hosted ICC event by Pakistan was the 1996 50-over World Cup and they co-hosted with India and Sri Lanka. Since after the attack on the touring Sri Lanka team bus in Lahore in 2009, this will be the first time that Pakistan will host such a major event of ICC along with the Asia Cup 2023. Apart from this, the 2029 Champions Trophy will be hosted by India.

PCB chairman Ramiz Raja after reacting to the announcement said that it was a matter of great pride and delight that the country would host the major ICC tournament.

Former cricketer Shahid Afridi also tweeted:

“Congratulations PCB and fans! [It] will be a great incentive for Pakistan[i] players to defend this big title at home.”

The Rawalpindi express also described his excitement and posted that:

“Super excited to hear about Pakistan getting the hosting rights for 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.”
