DO YOU KNOW WHAT PERFECTION IS? CHASING PERFECTION WILL GIVE YOU NIGHTMARES THAT KEEP YOU AWAY FROM HAPPINESS.
The idea of perfection invades the idea of beauty. We don’t want to be just beautiful; we want to be perfect. Every day, there are pictures being posted on social media which are completely perfect without any flaws. That’s how social media has become a place where everyone is encouraging beauty standards, fashion standards. There are so many people out there who still need to match a certain image, no matter what. We emphasize what we are not instead of looking at who we are and finding what we love about ourselves. They all want to be perfect but they all have to understand what perfection means.
Perfection doesn’t mean beauty or to be perfect by our physical appearance. Perfection is a state of completeness or absolute wholeness which contains freedom from fault, imperfection, or shortcoming. Absolute perfection is a quality that drives for God alone.
Perfectionism is an unreasonable and self-defeating ambition of getting something absolutely right, which makes us difficult to be around and punishing to live within. The origin of perfectionism only lies in imagination. The sickness of perfectionism gestates in the fertile gap between our noble vision and our mediocre reality.
Perfectionism is only a problem because we have underbudgeted for difficulty, not because we are aiming high. Our perfectionism starts to torture us when we lack information on how hard others had to work and how much they had suffered before reaching their ideas for perfection.
For a better world, for our better life, for our better mental health, we should stop chasing perfection. We have to believe in ourselves, what we are, what we have, all are perfect. We have to believe in this thing, that God makes us perfect and we are not less than others. This statement will definitely make our lives and way of living easy and happy.
